I am in the business of making a 'natural' clock from an interesting piece of wood. The wood was originally 1.5" thick, but unfortunately I couldn't find a watch with a 2" diameter stem. So I cut the wood down to 1" and bought this job which was supposed to have a 1.5" shank. When I couldn't get all the parts to fit, I measured the shaft and found it was only 1 1/4 inches tall. A quarter of an inch isn't usually much, but in this case a slight lack of the specified size means the device won't fit. Now I have to re-level the wood which ruins the few coats of finish I put on it. More work and more mess. So if size is an issue I would buy this item with caution.
