Review on πŸ₯« Katadyn NRG-5 Emergency Food Ration, tan: Nutritional and Long-lasting Solution for Emergencies by Shane Wallace

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Not the best taste/texture but that's for survival

Okay, I'm new to survival rations. Due to the current conditions on this planet, I am making minimal preparations. Here's what I think about these NRG-5 rations from Katadyn: What I like: - Price - these rations are relatively cheap, can be accumulated over time and recycled - Shelf life - these rations can last up to 20 years if stored properly - Packaging size - this small portion set fits almost anything - Vegan - although we still have the luxury of choice, the fact that they're vegan gives me a better feel for what I'm buying - Nutritional content - they seem to be a bit more Nutritional value than others I've researched (higher fat to carb ratio) - Made in Germany - hey the Germans are great engineers and manufacturers! - My cat will eat them - if nothing else I can give them to my cat when his preparation is finished - he will try right away! I tried to upload the second video but it wouldn't let me - Can be used for children from 6 months. What I don't like: - Not the best taste/texture - these rations are very dry and crumbly. They crumble into powder without much effort or pressure. When I share one of these diets with my cat to try, it grows on me a little. I'm sure if I were starving these rations would probably taste magical. - Inner packaging - thin plastic film wrapped around individual bars, not sealed properly and not permeable to air/moisture. After the outer film is torn or damaged, you need to take care of protecting the other 9 staves. If you want to "just try one" you'll need to find a way to re-vacuum seal the outer box or use up the other 8 bars within a day or two. In general I am very satisfied. I think this experience inspired me to try different brands and options as I am much more interested in this topic now.

Pros
  • Absolutely amazing!
Cons
  • Not bad, but...
