Description of 🥫 Katadyn NRG-5 Emergency Food Ration, tan: Nutritional and Long-lasting Solution for Emergencies

Emergency food ration, in robust, airtight, and waterproof packs, in a convenient, compact pocket size. NRG-5 Emergency Food Rations are compressed high energy biscuits. The NRG-5 rations are developed for use in relief operations during natural or man-made disasters, for emergency preparedness, outdoor activities and as a food supplement. 20 years shelf life within its durable, air sealed packaging to ensure preservation under all climatic conditions. A 500g pack contains 9 individual bars with an energy value of 260 kcal each, which in turn are vacuum-welded together in an aluminum composite foil (water- and gas-tight). A 500g pack is equivalent to 2,380 kcal, so it offers more than an average daily emergency (1800-2000 kcal).

Survival Food is Good for Safety

This is Survival Food. It has a long shelf life, but you won't want to eat it until you have to. You can eat it, but you won't enjoy it until you're hungry.

Pros
  • Great Design
Cons
  • Lots of Things

Long shelf life and nutritional value

In a pinch, I'd like something with enough protein and other vitamins and minerals. It has it and the 20 year shelf life is great. Seems like a great way to cook. I plan to have her with me for her best protein profile and diet. A great option for a temporary emergency.

Pros
  • Certified
Cons
  • Only available in black

Wow that's insanely good for safety

I'm surprised 2380 calories can be so dense. Very good to have in vehicles. But, my God, the taste is hardly pleasant. You must eat this with water or else you will feel like you are eating flour. Chew very carefully! If you don't, it falls odd. The texture of chalk and the taste of whole grain with a slight chemical aftertaste.

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Easily torn

Like chalk, but probably the best candidate for long-term eating.

I recently tried 8 different types of "SOS bars" and for me personally this one was the winner. The parameter for the test was as follows: which one was the best if you didn't have to eat for 3 days. There have been tastier ones (tastes like shortbread) but this is the most harmless and won't make you feel like you just ate a box of shortbread biscuits. I could get 3,000 calories from that, anything else would inevitably make me sick with wealth, and I couldn't get the calories I need in a bad…

Compact size and long shelf life are the main advantages of this diet.

Understand that these diets are specifically designed for durability and compact size. Very dry, easily crumbles. Looks like drywall and looks like drywall. They make you thirsty. To eat them with relish, you need water or something to drink. Barely cute. It's more enjoyable to break it up and turn it into a hot or cold mush to which you add fruit, cinnamon, sugar or whatever you have/find. Try breaking a bar in a liter of water with a mixture of cinnamon and sugar, or mix well and chill for a…

Survival Ration – Emergency Kits & Supplies

First of all, this is a compressed malto meal texture as described. Semi-sweet pleasant taste, except for very dry (almost chalky) with hints of barley? Tested with very small sips of water such as 4.2 oz SOS water bags. I felt satisfied but not full and didn't want more after a portion block. The outer cover is medium strength cardboard separated by a very strong Mylar plastic vacuum seal. The inner biscuit will also be wrapped. Shelf life is much longer than most other types of survival…

Not the best taste/texture but that's for survival

Okay, I'm new to survival rations. Due to the current conditions on this planet, I am making minimal preparations. Here's what I think about these NRG-5 rations from Katadyn: What I like: - Price - these rations are relatively cheap, can be accumulated over time and recycled - Shelf life - these rations can last up to 20 years if stored properly - Packaging size - this small portion set fits almost anything - Vegan - although we still have the luxury of choice, the fact that they're vegan gives
