I like the aesthetics of this device. It just looks cool. I love the blue lights that serve as a night light in my hallway. However, the first device I bought was defective. I bought the first one from newegg's ebay store and as the processing time to get a working unit for me is about 10 days I just returned it for a refund and ordered a replacement from Amazon so I have it. two days. That's why I'm giving TP Link another chance. You tried to get it right. I had the device plugged in and it worked for about three days and then just shut down. When he worked he was still stained. I was watching Netflix and it stopped and restarted about every 30 minutes so I knew something was wrong. WPS never worked on the device (red flag). I called TP Link support and tried for about an hour to access the webpage by connecting ethernet to the device but I couldn't open the page so the rep said it was buggy. TP Link gave me an RMA number and said a representative would email me the next day with shipping instructions. They did. Since they made it to the end and I spoke to the tech support person at 2am, I'm willing to give them another chance. I don't like that TP Link makes you pay to send an item back to them if it's defective. But I went back to Newegg, which doesn't charge shipping for faulty products, so that doesn't hurt. I will update the review if the replacement works. Result. The company seems to care about me and customer service is of the utmost importance to me. UPDATE: January 9, 2013 The second block doesn't work either. I received a replacement from Revain. The same thing. The WPS button was not working with my western mynet n750 digital routers or Netgear WNDR3700 routers. Also, this extender doesn't just stop working, it literally turns off 2.4GHz on both routers. It just won't send and I have to reset my routers. I spent 2 hours on the phone with TP-Link support. They're cute, but they basically just read some book, aren't very flexible, or think outside the box about what's going on in Asia. They said they can't help setting up the router because it's not a TP-Link router? I'm pretty sure the settings are the same for most routers. But whatever. The first thing I did was update the firmware but that didn't help. I tried putting both the extension cord and the router on the same channel. Trying to lower security to WEP, trying a static IP address, trying to lower the repeater's output power. I'm tech savvy as a baboon, but I've learned a lot trying to get this thing to work. Nothing worked. It just looks like bad design. I'm not sure if all of these positive reviews are premature, but I've tried two of these devices and neither worked for me. I have a Time Warner cable, regular routers. Nothing special, should work. Returned as defective for a refund. I hope you have better luck but I don't recommend it. A star.
