Review on Capture Every Moment On The Road With Vantrue E1 Mini Dash Cam: 2.5K, GPS, WiFi, Voice Control, Night Vision, 24-Hr Parking Mode & More! by Jeremy Adams

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Great budget dash cam with a minimal footprint

It's nearly a 5/5 star camera and regardless you'll be happy with this if you just want to protect yourself with a dash cam at a minimal investment. At $140-150, this camera might be a stretch but I also don't know what the $150 camera competition is like. If this came with an SD card or you can find it for $120-ish discounted I think it's totally worth it. I would still recommend this at full price but only if there is no other camera competition as good for the same price. You're also paying for a camera that's built by a solid brand and generally is praised for its dash cams. So even at full price, it's likely worth it if this fits your budget. If you can stretch your budget more I would invest in a bit higher-spec Vantrue camera.I've added some stills taken with the camera and one with a glare so you can see what the glare looks like—I blurred out my speed and GPS coordinates that you'll see at the bottom otherwise it's just text. Nothing else has been edited on images or video. Revain only lets one video upload per review otherwise I would have also uploaded a night video.Pros:- Small footprint- Intuitive controls and little onboarding are required to get started and using- The app works great and is a nice option to have paired with the camera to operate without having to touch the physical camera. I wish all venture cameras came with this app support.- Voice control- Remote control- Decent video; at least enough to make any details you might need to defend yourself in an accident or similar event where a camera is needed. You won't be getting any stellar quality stills or videos pulled off the device but their "good enough"- Easy and solid mounting option on glass. No issues with it coming off or even remotely worried about how sturdy it is. Went over a lot of rough roads and I was never able to shake this thing off its mounting position.- Magnetic mount that makes it easy to remove and put on- Solid warranty- GPS included with the device- Color choices, I choose the blue one as it matches my Subaru's metallic blue almost exactly.- Camera buttons feel a bit cheap but I actually like this because the clickiness of the buttons gives you a good amount of feedback that you're interacting with the buttons. I also like that the buttons are on the bottom. It's easy to tap them if you need to without effort.- In camera menu is easy to navigate and see- Easy to tuck behind the rearview mirror and hide this cleanly. Does not consume your vision like some of the more expensive and bigger Vantrue cameras.- Audio quality is acceptable.- GPS and speed are accurate. The speed takes a second to match if you're stepping on the gas but once it syncs up its spot on accurate.Cons:- One of the biggest cons of this device for me is that there is no swivel adjustment for left-to-right movement. Once you set it that's it. So I recommend you set the camera up with it on so you can aim it correctly. This is an annoying feature missing from this camera and it really needs a way to swivel.- The camera gets really hot and I'm concerned about long-term use if this will damage the components at all.- Video quality could be improved a lot, especially at night. At night the video has a lot of noise to compensate for the exposure and it's very noticeable.- Not really a con but the app live view is just ever slightly laggy when compared to what is actually being seen on the camera. It's close but you do notice it a little bit however this specific con should not prevent you from buying this.- I would like to see a 60fps option on some of the resolutions but I don't think there is a need to go beyond 60fps.- Glare on this is pretty high in certain situations and if you can afford I would probably invest in the CPL filter add-on (assuming it works) to cut down on the glare.

Pros
  • Mini But Powerful: The Vantrue E1 pocked-sized dash camera is equipped with a top-quality Sony CMOS sensor that's capable of capturing crisp 2592*1944P footage. It utilizes HDR (High Dynamic Range) Technology, F1.8 wide aperture lens and super night vision to increase exposure automatically in dark situations, read license plates clearly or spot obscure details that could act as important evidence in the event of an accident.
Cons
  • Some users may find the size of the camera to be too bulky or visually intrusive on their windshield
