Review on ⚡ High-Performance 2-Pack Coaxial Surge Lightning Protector for Cable TV and Satellite, In-Line 75 Ohm, 5-2500MHz by Scott Channell

Revainrating 2 out of 5

The best device insurance for your modem or cable box.

I live in Florida. That said, I live with lightning (if I remember correctly, we're the lightning capital of the North American continent). A layered surge protection strategy is essential, and these small bugs are an important part of that overall strategy. They won't stop a direct hit on their own (there's not much they can do), but they can help. I use one of these, which connects directly to my modem, in combination with a built-in RG-6 ground block with surge protection outside the home (which I also got from Amazon). The cable/internet company SAYS they have their own surge suppression, but their fine print also says they are NOT OBLIGATED to protect your stuff. The voltages that damage your devices and the voltages that damage your devices are often two different things. This is a simple and easy precaution that resulted in a zero speed drop in both directions on my 100Mbps down / 12Mbps up (which is functionally 120Mbps down / 18Mbps up). above) connection. It's good to know that my NAS, router, and personal modem are now less likely to fail or become damaged over the long term from repeated small power surges.

Pros
  • Suitable for CATV, MATV, SATV, cable networks and other communication systems. Built-in coaxial surge protection filter.
Cons
  • No instructions.
