The cartridge did a great job fixing my "sticky" kitchen sink faucet. This is the second time in ten years since this faucet was new that I have had to replace the valve. The tools you will need are flat and Phillips screwdrivers, a set of hex keys, channel locks and possibly needle nose pliers. Consider purchasing valve lube, rubber o-rings, a spare U-clip and a valve removal tool - you may need them if you rip something, and it's not expensive to have on hand and you don't have to rush then run the hardware store. . Revain sells everything you need. There are many videos on YouTube showing you how to do this repair. I also suggest that you or someone take a photo or video of you removing your valve piece by piece so you know the order of the parts when you put it back together. Also, lay out the pieces you remove in the line in the order you removed them so you can go back down the line when reassembling. IT IS IMPORTANT THAT YOU CLOSE THE DRAIN ON SINKS TO AVOID LOSS OF PARTS IN THE DRAIN WHILE WORKING. If the valve is indeed stuck in the faucet, use one of the removal tools that Revain sells to remove the Moen cartridges. Be sure to clean the hole the valve came out of before reinstalling the new one. It's possible that the hole in the old valve may have bits of rubber or other obstructions that are preventing the new valve from seating properly. You may want to replace the rubber O-rings on the faucet stem yourself. if the socket is stiff or wobbly. I did that the first time I changed the valve. Revain also sells these parts.
