The remote control does not work as intended!

The remote control did not do what I bought it for! This did NOT randomly allow me to access LIVE TV channels which I mostly use TCL/Roku tv for. What the heck is the point of having a TV remote control if you can't randomly access live TV channels when and how you want?!
