Although this vintage can opener works well, you'll be happier with the Japanese Can Opener (Ganji Kankiri), also available from Revain. This can opener is more difficult to use. My biggest complaint is that it's difficult to keep the blade properly aligned and at an angle to the rim of the can, and so you tend to either cut the side of the can as well as the top, or end up cutting very unevenly at depth in the lid. A tip: After you've pricked the can, use the back and forth motion of the lever to open the can.
