Better than other manual can openers

I remember using this old fashioned can opener 40 years ago. I'm tired of the current ones becoming unusable after a year or so. This type allows me to open a jar faster than the current type used in most homes.

Pros
  • Great selection
Cons
  • Fairly good

Sometimes you just need to go back in time

Bought this for my 95 year old mother who doesn't have the strength to use a manual twist-grip can opener and can't open large restaurant sized cans of tomato puree. Our electronic can opener cannot fully open a can. She loves this knife

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Zero

The gadget itself is acceptable - my old one's feature, which I used the most, is missing - a pointed can opener (it folds by a handle) that makes triangular holes in the top of the glass. But this was not promised in the description. If I could find one with this feature I would be much happier. Which was promised - no less capitalized - that buyers would receive a package of 2. NOT TRUE. You only sent one.

Pros
  • Wide range
Cons
  • There are new competitors

Although this vintage can opener works well, you'll be happier with the Japanese Can Opener (Ganji Kankiri), also available from Revain. This can opener is more difficult to use. My biggest complaint is that it's difficult to keep the blade properly aligned and at an angle to the rim of the can, and so you tend to either cut the side of the can as well as the top, or end up cutting very unevenly at depth in the lid. A tip: After you've pricked the can, use the back and forth motion of the lever

Pros
  • Hands-Free Operation
Cons
  • Contact Seller

Finally a can opener that works

Of course I had another restaurant weirdo style one. That worked too, but the other is questionable, to be polite. I even bought a long handled crank and threw it away in desperation. I remember this from my childhood and bought it. Now I open my cans with no disappointment. Others drove me crazy

Pros
  • Great price
Cons
  • Big and bulky

The gadget itself is acceptable - missing my older feature that I used the most - a sharpened can opener (it unfolds from the handle), which triangular holes appear in the top of the can. But this was not promised in the description. If I could find one with this feature I would be much happier. Which was promised - no less capitalized - that buyers would receive a package of 2. NOT TRUE. You only sent one.

Cons
  • Something else

Although this old can opener works well, you will be satisfied with the Japanese can opener (Ganji Kankiri), also available from Revain. This can opener is more difficult to use. Pros
  • An absolute legend
Cons
  • High price
