I bought two of these starters. The first one started the engine once, and the next time it just spun without engaging the engine ring gear. Afraid that part of the old starter gear would get stuck in the new one the first time it was turned and break it, I bought another starter and an endoscope to see if I could locate the missing gear part. After removing the starter I found the impeller stuck in the retracted position, the drive was defective, I did not return it as I ordered 2 new drives to fix the starter. The second new starter works perfectly, no problems. 1 star deducted due to defective drive. I rebuilt all the pieces of the original broken drive gear (it's a composite gear so it's not magnetic, not fun, but much easier with an endoscope and mechanical fingers) and found it impossible. lifted to get into the new drive.
