Perfect for doing aerobics in a 2nd fl apt!

I waited 4 months before writing this review so I could see how well the mat held up after lots of use. I've done an aerobic exercise routine and other types of muscle training on this mat every other day with my sneakers on. It has held up perfectly with no signs of wear at all other than a few insignificant scuff marks. The measurements are exactly as listed. I got the 5'x7' one and it's the perfect size for my workouts with some room to spare. Truely 7mm thick, which is a hair over 1/4 inch. It fits perfectly beneath my 5'×7' rug, which I love because I can just roll my rug back while I do my workouts and then just flip it back over when I'm done. No need to roll it up and put it in the closet each time, it just stays where it is and no one even knows its there! Plus now my rug stays in place and no longer slides around on the floor, which I love! Bonus! :) The mat has a nice grippy bottom and it hasn't budged one iota in 4 months of crazy activity.I got this mat because I live in an apartment and was hoping that it would be quieter for my neighbors who live below me and have to tolerate my jumping around for over an hour every other day. It definitely absorbs a significant amount of the noise and cuts down on the vibration. I would feel way too guilty if I hadn't gotten this. Now I feel I'm at least making every effort to be considerate.I did not have any problem with the surface being slippery at all as is mentioned in the product description notes. As a matter of fact, I had to get used to how super grippy the surface was right from the get-go because I was used to my sneakers being able to slide just a little on my wood floor during my aerobics routine. No slipping or sliding possible at all with the one I got! So I did Not have to treat it with sea salt as described in the note for the "Running-in period". I suggest trying it out carefully first to see how yours is before treating it because it may not be necessary. As far as working out on it, the amount of cushion is perfect for everything I do in my workouts (aerobic dance, calisthenics and floor exercises) except what I have to do on my knees. Because I have arthritis in my knees, I have to use a thicker yoga mat on top of it for those particular exercises, which works out fine.I have not had to clean it at all except for vacuuming it a couple times and spot wiping sweat drips with a wet rag here and there. (Note: If you do vacuum it, make sure the beater-bar is raised up or you will get a friction burn! I had the beater bar height set at 'bare floor' level the first time, which was too low and gave the mat 2 superficial friction burns, which are of no consequence thank goodness. You can see them on the lower left in the photos. LOL. Totally my fault. The next level up was perfect for me, but be careful of that.or better yet, use a broom! ;)I like that it's certified under the US ASTM-F963, 6 kinds of Phthalate Test, and California Proposal also. Makes me feel safer. It's well made with no signs of fraying, pilling, or sloughing off of any material. (I expected mine would get some sort of black dustlike particles coming off over time since it gets walked on all day every day under the rug, but nope, it's held up perfectly!)If I should ever want to store it, it comes with a convenient storage sleave with a drawstring. (kind of like most camping chairs fold up and slide into). Just roll it up, slide it in and store it in the closet. Nice extra, in my opinion.I'm not sure what more to add. I was nervous about spending so much on something I couldn't check out in person first, but I'm so glad I took the chance. I'm not getting any kind of incentive to write this review, just trying to help others like me. Everyone is looking for what's right for them and their particular needs and I hope this review helps at least a few of you make a good decision for yourself. As for me, I am super pleased with my purchase. It suits my needs perfectly and I believe it's going to hold up well to my shenanigans for many years to come. :)
