Review on ๐Ÿ’จ Enhance NVMe SSD Performance with GIGABYTE GC-4XM2G4: AORUS Gen4 AIC Adapter with Full PCIe 4.0 and Advanced Thermal Solution by Jerardo Phi

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works on X570/5950x. hardly.

I installed this on an Aorus X570 Ultra with a 5950X processor. Installed 4 x 2GB NVME drives in X16 slot and GPU in second X8 slot. I also have 2x 2GB NVMe in M2 A and B. In this configuration the board doesn't recognize more than two drives on the card. I pulled out the GPU and plugged it onto the 1x adapter (because there isn't enough room in the case to put a double wide GPU in slot 3) and plugged it into one of the 1x slots (goes through the chipset) and the Onboard detected all four NVMEs on the card plus two onboard NVMEs. I'm assuming this is the 5950x's PCIE lane limit (20 total). My guess is that if I could physically install the GPU in the 3rd x16 slot (also connected via the chipset) it would work. However, the GPU is limited to four shared PCI lanes (M2 B also runs through the chipset). So while you can get this to work on an x570 setup, you can't get it to work with four drives without sacrificing some GPU performance. Also, I tried enabling NVME RAID in BIOS settings, but Windows didn't like the change (probably due to UEFI). You will most likely need to do a clean install if NVME RAID is not enabled in the BIOS and Windows is already installed.
