I've never used an umbrella or a bobbin winder, but it's pretty easy to work with. Before purchasing this kit I dyed my own yarn and after it dried I sat on the couch and held the yarn with my knees as I hand twisted it into a ball. Wrapping skeins of yarn around an umbrella is amazing, and a spool makes perfect yarn cakes. The only thing I complain about is the design of the wrap clamp you use to attach it to the table. I end up only holding the winder in my hands because tensioning both at the same time requires a table edge at least 4 feet wide. I think this could be improved if the winder had an adjustable connector, which would allow me to mount it on a vertical surface as well. General,
