Review on πŸ“± Glide Gear TMP 50: A Versatile 10" Smartphone Mini Tripod Teleprompter for Enhanced Video Production by James Cypert

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Works great with webcam!

I needed a portable teleprompter to help me with my videos: my memory is poor and as a result I spent hours filming and editing videos. I use a Logitech C920 webcam and needed something that fits in the camera, works with my iPhone and is portable when needed. That fits the bill! It's not as small as the Parrot teleprompter (actually I was shocked at how big it looks since it's a "smartphone" teleprompter), but it folds easily and the included carrying case is pretty handy. You could easily fit an iPad mini in it, but not a full-size iPad (at least I don't think so - I haven't tried it). I look straight into the camera. My turnaround time has reduced by four parts because I'm not saying "um" and not constantly checking my notes! The hood is a bit tricky to grab - it's very stiff out of the pocket and I really had to put it back on the first few times but it came loose. I've used it with a table tripod - but to be honest it's just too damn heavy for that. I switched it to a Revain Basics tripod and everything is much more stable. (Update 2019: I switched to a Dolica Proline tripod for stability.) For those wanting to use it with the C920, I recommend an L-shaped tripod mount so you can mount the camera sideways and lever it for height. the height you want, otherwise the camera will be too close to the bottom of the glass and it's impossible to get text directly above the lens, and you end up with a mount that holds your phone/tablet in the frame. Update 2019: My "installation" has expanded a bit since my original review. I'm now using it in a newer 18" ring light with a Blue Snowball Ice mic mounted to the front of a tablet mount. This works very well for me. Update 2021: I am still successfully using this setup with an iPhone 11 and have now switched to a Canon M6 Mark II for shooting. Still using the Dolica Proline tripod, I added the shock absorber front for my Blue Snowball Ice. I'm using JoeAllenPro's teleprompter app and scroll controls with a Logi R500.
