Review on 🔌 Metra 40-UV45 Female Antenna Connectors - Pack of 5 by John Collins

No instructions or guidelines on cutting or otherwise preparing RG58 coaxial cable for use with these connectors ie. one can only guess about the corresponding inner conductor and the length of the braided shield. The final braided shield connection is (obviously) based on a press fit. It has been found that the connector assembly is prone to poor grounding and/or possible shorts between the shield and conductor depending on how open the braided shield was. Ultimately the DC continuity for the antenna and shield tested OK (and no shorts) but did not inspire confidence. IMHO the connectors themselves seemed to be of decent quality. There aren't many choices for these types of connectors, so either be prepared to tinker around a bit or just buy ready-made ones.
