Review on πŸ“ Milwaukee Instruments MA871 Brix Refractometer, Digital, 0-85% Range by Carlos Phillips

I'll have a beer to this refractometer

This product falls into one of those categories - it's something you should have, but it can't justify spending big bucks on laboratory quality sample equipment. There are too many other things I need in brewing beer and my hydrometers work pretty well. The problem with using an areometer is wasted beer. How much easier is it to get a few drops out of your fermenting beer than to pour it into a test can and then refill it. After reading a lot about digital refractometers I settled on this one. Let's start with the fact that this is a precision instrument. After it arrived, I quickly realized that a carrying case was definitely needed. Packing it in a soft case allows me to sleep soundly every night. The instrument arrived in very good condition and was packaged very well. READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Even if you think it's easy, take 5 minutes of your precious time and read the instructions. This might not reveal anything you don't already know, but you can be sure if you read the readings correctly and clean the cup after each use. It's also important to understand how Brix differs from OG. /FG differs from Plato. If you use this tool as it is intended to be used and treat it like a precision tool, anyone who brews beer will find this product to be one of their best investments in equipment.
