Looking forward to the second version of this iPad USB-C -> HDMI Hub/Headphone/USB/Charging.

Benefits: Great Look, Feel, Size, Weight, Color. It's a nice looking hub, I really wish it was a multi-key juggling solution. The USB port works as advertised: DCIM folder drives will open the Photos app and display the files and may give you the option to import them if the Photos app supports it. I was even able to use a USB-A microSD card reader to view the files from the dash cam (I couldn't import them as the Photos app doesn't support .AVI files). It is not possible to access the USB drive from another application. I've tried everything I had on my iPad and even downloaded a few, including one from SanDisk designed for their own USB/Lightning drive; do not go. This is a limitation of iOS, not the hub. Cons: There were issues with HDMI when connecting from iPad to any TV/monitor. Movies purchased from iTunes will not send HDR to an HDR display (with a good 4K60 4:4:4 18Gbps HDMI cable). Then I tried videos without HDR. I got the message "This display doesn't support protected content". , tried a friend's Apple HDMI adapter, no problem. Both TV and monitor support HDCP; My monitor doesn't support HDR, so yeah, I've tried a few different combinations to get this working. After all, he was REGULARLY working with non-HDR content, but he just wasn't consistent enough. The headphone jack is over-amplified. One of the main reasons I bought this hub was for charging and listening through wired headphones. With the system minimum volume set to Mute, the volume was too loud and I had to twist the earbud out of my ear canal to hear comfortably (I put the left EarPod backwards in my right ear). Also, the built-in volume controls don't work through this hub. With an Apple adapter (a $9 cable that doesn't charge), I can use the built-in volume control. As far as I remember the play/pause button worked with this hub. The USB-C connector is not very firm. Apple connectors appear to have a stronger latch. I couldn't unplug the headphone, HDMI, or USB-C charging cables from the hub while it was plugged into the iPad, even when trying to clumsily hold the hub while it was plugged in, it's difficult to unplug the cables , without it on is at least partially disconnected from the iPad, resulting in disconnection. Minor design complaint: Travel is deeper than the bare iPad (glass on the back) but not as deep as the iPad + Smart Keyboard. This isn't a deal breaker, but since the article doesn't list dimensions I thought I'd share it. There may be a second version of this hub that fixes these issues, but in the meantime I will be returning this item and purchasing separate dongles for the headphone and charging jacks and the HDMI output.
