Useful hat needle

I usually use a 42 inch needle with a very flexible cable for Magic Loop style knitting (replaces four twin needles). 16" round is the right size for the number of stitches. This #3 needle is usually needed if you do a lot of Fair Isle knitting with fine yarns. So I usually need several of these if I'm doing multiple projects. The Cable has no "memory" which means any kink or kink it has while knitting will disappear when you let go of the needle. I find the cables to be soft and flexible. I compare this needle to an Inox-16 Size 3" needle. The nickel is smoother than the enamel on the inox and the cable is more flexible than the old transparent inox nylon cable. I prefer a very flexible cable to a rigid one, that's why I prefer this needle. So if you think they won't bother you, they may not be true. If you are allergic to nickel I would suggest carbon fiber or casein needles. I wouldn't even recommend wooden ones - some have metal caps for connecting to the cord, and these can be nickel. I don't have a severe skin allergy to nickel (stud earrings only) so I can't be sure if this will irritate you, but I've heard from other knitters that it causes problems for some people.
