Review on πŸ”₯ Enhanced Wood Burning Pen - Precision Scorch Pen Marker for Safe and Easy DIY Projects by Karla Richter

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Has its limitations but a good product.

Building a dart cabinet for my son's birthday. I kind of wanted to sign my name and sentiments on the back. I was thinking of a wood burning tool but then I came across this pen. I thought try. Test wood shown. The bottom half below the yellow line was made on a rough surface. The surface above the line is coated with a layer of water-based polyurethane and the core is applied over two layers of poly. You can see something is bleeding no matter how close or far or what angle I approached it with a heat source (650 degree embossing heat gun). The pen tip is beveled; The tip makes the line sharper than a flat beveled surface. That's quite enough for this project, but for a more serious artist or more detailed project, you might want to invest in a wood burning tool. Also, to get liquid ink onto the pen tip, you need to pump the pen tip onto a flat surface or paper towel to allow the ink to flow to the tip and saturate it. Be careful not to crush or damage the tip during this process. Enjoy! Additional note: The letter sanded fine lightly, but when he tried to apply another clear water-based polymer top coat to it, it yellowed slightly. Glad it was on a test sample!

Pros
  • ✍ Easy to use - create the perfect wood burning pattern in just three steps. Sand with at least 220 grit sandpaper, clean the surface and press the paper tower several times to impregnate the tip of the pen; draw the pattern you like; Heat with a heat gun until the desired effect is achieved.
Cons
  • Ugly packaging
