My mother only had one working key for her 1997 Ford Expedition, instead of going to the Ford dealer for a replacement I ordered this and asked the locksmith to replace it easy to cut it . I program the buttons myself, it was pretty easy. If you compare the original key with this one, it will be a little longer, but it will work. Now she has plenty of spare parts in case she loses one of them. To program, insert the original key (working key) into the ignition and turn it on, but do not start it. The theft alert light should come on, wait a few seconds, then turn the ignition back on and remove the original key, at this point you only have 5 seconds. Insert the key you just cut into the ignition and turn to start and wait for the anti-theft warning light to go off. Once this happens, your key should be programmed into the car.
