durability issues.

Bought the deluxe set in June 2016 when I first started knitting; I decided that starting with a spare set would save me money and not accumulate a huge collection of fixed circular needles of any length. Two years later I regret my decision to buy this particular brand. When I first got them I noticed that on some needles the thread that connects them to the cords (screw attachment) is off center and has a lip protruding from one side of the base of the needle. This is hardly noticeable when using thicker yarn, but the lip will cling to finger and lace threads. Over time the plating has chipped, revealing small flecks of brass that pull on yarn and create an uncomfortably rough feel when rubbed together - think fingernails on a board. Despite this, I continued to knit in sets, thinking that if they became too damaged I could go back to buying custom-sized needles. The last straw, however, was that the REAL spokes themselves began to break off at the connection points. I first noticed this on needle number 5. A small chip appeared, which at first just hooked my yarn, but then prevented the needle from connecting tightly and evenly to the cord. I filed the base of the needle to remove the chip (which might hurt, huh?) and was surprised that it actually made the needle-to-cable connection BETTER than before the damage. Both the small lip and the slight bulge disappeared and I finished my project with no further problems. When my size 7 needle did the same, I wasn't worried; I filed it and again the cord is better and straighter than before. However, now I can't go more than two rows of 62 loops without tightening the cord! I thought about just buying another pair of Knitter's Pride in a size 7 (as I originally planned), but decided against it for two reasons. 1) Strings are attached off-center to multiple needles. I found that the problem was with the needles and not the cords (although I did receive a cord with a slightly crooked pin) because some cords that attach properly to most needles will not go straight with some. 2) This chipping issue leads me to believe that I might very well end up buying another set of Knitters Pride needles in a row, defeating my goal of buying this set from the start. Absolutely not. I'd rather spend a little more money and try Chiogoo than spend money on defective needles. TL; DR - Product quality - or maybe quality control - issues prevent me from buying needles or recommending this brand to other knitters. .
