peel apples? Meet the best scrub!

omg! This peeler looks like a clumsy little toy, but damn it works! Lately I've been making apple pies and using a blender peeler. I didn't like the thickness of the bowl at all - I lost a lot of fruit and it just doesn't suit me. So I thought I'd see if non-motorized cleaners were better and that's when I stumbled upon this little gem. I was struck by the photos where the peel was removed - there was almost no apple flesh. And it was only $12 - so not much to lose and I ordered it. It cuts wider skins than more traditional metal shears - so FAST. Sometimes it bounced a bit, but a quick flick of the paring knife made it go away. My apple was quite asymmetrical but still did a great job. It looks like it will work with a variety of apple sizes - mine were mostly medium, but the blade rotation was clearly suited to larger fruit. The suction cups keep the peeler in place, however I like to steady it with a non-rotating hand to keep it more stable. My machine came with an apple corer/slicing attachment. This worked well too, but I wasn't thrilled with the size of the core (too big for me) so I hand cut and sliced the core. This was the slowest step in my process. Then I decided to use the mixer attachment for this job. I liked the thickness of the hand-cut slices, but speed won out and the blender attachment occupies a much smaller core than the included core attachment. Assembly consisted of inserting a sturdy plastic handle into the receiver and exposing the blade guard and fruit tips. Dismantling was just as difficult. I could just leave the pen on, but I like to keep things in boxes. I cannot recommend this knife more highly. You will not regret this purchase.
