I purchased this backflow prevention cover to replace the Rainbird cover that came with my sprinkler system 15 years ago. I wish I could have replaced the old version with a newer one, but I couldn't even find it on the Rainbird website. This cap is a few inches longer than the check valve assembly, but it came closest to the required height. The original Rainbird housing was thickly lined and wrapped fairly tightly around the backflow preventer to keep it from flying off in inclement weather; However, this Redford supply cap has a velcro strap at the bottom to keep it in place. This case isn't that thick, but appears to be made of insulating material, which should be enough for cold weather. I've only had it a few months as of Spring 2021 so I don't know if it will be effective in preventing pipes from freezing until late January or early February when we winter here in OK.
