Review on 🚲 RV Approved Hitch Mount Bike Rack - Swagman Bicycle Carrier TRAVELER XC2, in Black by David Bowens

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not for 2017 Mazda CX-5 with mountain bikes

Media cannot be loaded. I bought this shelf based on the good reviews. First off, I installed this rack on my 2017 Mazda CX-5 with a 2" Class 3 hitch and I have two Diamondback 27.5 mountain bikes that I wanted to use on the trunk. I quickly found it didn't fit because the piece of metal that attaches to the coupler pockets is too short and the bike mounted closest to the tailgate is in contact with the car. I tried maneuvering the bike tire loops and turning the bike back and forth, but there was no way to mount the bikes without creating a situation where the bike pedal or handlebars made contact with the car. I even started looking for options. with hitch extensions, but this has weakened the strength of the bike mount in the first place and the more parts you use the more likely it is to break and move in use. a bit where the three bars come together. I have just requested a refund from Revain and will continue to look for an affordable longer mount bike rack. To be clear if this rack for my car would work with my bikes I would probably recommend and keep it, but unfortunately it does.

Pros
  • VERSATILE: Can easily carry up to 2 bikes and is compatible with a 2" Class 3 hitch receiver or attaches to a 4.5" solid steel RV bumper adapter . Also comes with a 2" bumper adapter.
Cons
  • Slightly wrinkled
