Diagnosis: fractured kneecap I was in a big bulky full leg immobilizer for 6 weeks. It was difficult to sit in a chair, impossible to drive a car. The fracture healed after 6 weeks. I was allowed to start bending and working out my knee to regain flexibility and leg muscles. I had to wear the immobilizer for support when not training. I was afraid to fit a large immobilizer and tried driving without it. Bad choice, the knee just wasn't ready. I sprained my knee and had to carry the bulky thing again. I have my eye on this knee brace that will support and limit the movement of the knee. I finally bought it and my only regret is that I didn't do it sooner! While not a replacement for a large full-leg immobilizer, this adjustable brace gives me the support I need to safely and gradually return to my daily activities. It is comfortable and adjusts in size as swelling decreases.
