Absolute Nightmare works well with computers and accessories

Most people who install it seem to be successful, but a significant minority will never get it to work properly. Unfortunately, I belong to this minority of users. I initially bought 3 packs and while they seemed to work well, due to the odd layout of my house I decided to buy 2 more packs, bringing the total to 5 knots. First the good: Installation was easy and intuitive. The Linksys phone app is very convenient and easy to use. The WIFI COVERAGE (as opposed to internet delivery) is perfect. Every corner of my 3,000 square foot house and all of my outdoor cameras, doorbells, etc. show a perfect or near-perfect Wi-Fi signal. The Velop's WiFi coverage is absolutely GOOD. Bad: The system kept interrupting Internet services on different devices. It was noticeably worse on iOS devices (Apple TV, iPhone, iPad), but it occurred on all devices. To be clear, the Wi-Fi signal was stable, but when trying to load a webpage or other content, the browser gave an "Internet Connection Error". After a while it started to get annoying. I updated the firmware, did a channel scan, and did everything a technically competent person would do. I even asked my ISP (Centurylink 86 Mbs DSL) to come up with a brand new DSL modem. And yet the problems remained. At this point, I called Linksys Velop dedicated support. They're available 24/7, make appointments with you, and you're speaking to someone who is usually very knowledgeable. This part was great. The problem is that each call took over an hour and I had to do complex ping tests between nodes etc. each time. Each time they told me that the nodes were communicating normally (which I already knew - because the coverage was large). Then they will try to put it on the modem. So they spent over 30 minutes testing my modem only to confirm that the problem was unrelated to the ISP or the modem. They then "upgraded" me to a higher customer service level who called me the next day and repeated the same process again. Again and again. I spent over 7 hours with customer service and still no solution. Linksys refused to simply replace the nodes under warranty (which would be a very easy and effective way to determine if the nodes are causing the problem). Instead, they expected me to spend countless more hours of my life diagnosing remotely. Now I'm outside the return window and stuck with a very expensive system that is basically useless. I finally gave up. My time and my mind are worth more than this junk. I bought the Google Mesh system and so far it works great right out of the box. If you search the web, you will find that quite a few people are writing about this problem and coming to the same conclusion – the customer support is good and reliable, but they will waste hours of your time and drive you in circles with no solution. Save yourself the headache. Buy the best system.
