Update April 2017--The screens worked well for 2 summers, then the material came apart. Considering the price, the purchase was worthwhile, but as a comparison, my Coolaroo roll up screens are still in excellent condition. This year I am using the more conventional Phifer solar screen material for window screens, which costs a bit more but looks better and will probably hold up for many years.Original review -- Having been pleased with Coolaroo brand roll up screens over several of my windows, I decided to try making my own traditional fitted screens for some second floor windows out of this fabric, instead of the usual fiberglass mesh. Windscreen4less offered similar material at 2/3 the price of Coolaroo, so I ordered a roll. The 6x16 roll was just enough fabric for 4 sun-facing windows. It was ridiculously easy to work with. The screens have been in place now for the 2 hottest months in Austin, and they are holding up fine, blocking as much heat and light as the Coolaroos. The material appears to be equivalent in every way, but it will take more time to see which lasts longer. I plan to stow them in the fall, before hail and windstorms become likely, and put them back up May. In sunlight, I can make out the outline of everything in the yard, and can readily identify anyone walking there. If I missed the view, I would leave one window without a screen. If they last 3 years, I estimate they will save the $23 price by reducing cooling costs.
