So far, so good. BUT.

Read the reviews of these gas springs very carefully; They are often VERY strong and yes, they CAN shatter the glass on the rear window if you are not careful. I'm being too careful with this because I don't want to spend $250-$600 on a new rear window on my 1997 Jeep Wrangler TJ Hardtop. Installation is a breeze. They literally snap into place, no tools required. However, I highly recommend compressing and expanding them carefully and slowly a few times before installing them to prepare them and make sure they don't damage your window. After soaking them a few times and confirming that they'll close (this takes some muscle work), place them on a soft surface like a rug and give them a few squeezes. When closing the rear window of a Jeep hardtop, try to hold the glass on each side and gently (GENTLY AND SLOWLY!) close the window a little. * DON'T HURRY, DO NOT LEAVE THE WINDOW CLOSED! *I would recommend that you do this for a while each time until you finally feel them soften a bit. Be careful, GO SLOWLY and you shouldn't have any problems. I installed them for about a week and since then I've opened and closed the window 2 dozen times or more with no problems.

Pros
  • There's something to it
Cons
  • Almost everything is there
