Absolutely perfect!

I got this to replace my mom's knife block for Christmas. The previous one was the kind with the black inserts that accepted any kind of knife, which this is supposed to be a good alternative for. It is! It's extremely sturdy and I haven't been having the same problems as other reviewers, like the top coming off when pulling out a knife. I have fit eleven knives in it, all different shapes and sizes, and I have yet to have problems. P.S. The sharpening rod holder fits a pair of "normal"/household scissors perfectly.
