Pond Owner's Point of View

For our 7300 gallon carp pond (5500 gallon pond, 1800 gallon filter) I used Pond Amquel Plus and KORDON Pond Novaqua Plus for a 400 gallon water change. I would buy gallon pitchers, pour them into handy 16 ounce containers, and pour just a couple ounces of each to fill the pond. These levels were more of a precautionary use than a real concern about the chemical levels. The pond is stable. We have had some 3 foot koi for over 10 years and hope to keep them for decades to come. After my last supply ran out, I decided to look for a cheaper product while maintaining the water quality. Lots of people recommend Seachem Prime and I checked it out. It turns out Seachem Safe is the powdered version and is safe for all fish, including those intended for human consumption. I am satisfied with Seachem Safe. Not only is it more economical, it is also easier to use. I use a teaspoon per 400 gallons of water changes. The koi look and behave the same and the pond has maintained its balance. I also recently set up a small 12 gallon nano aquarium with a few clownfish that I hope will eventually spawn. I add a small amount of Safe just to make sure the chemical levels are well controlled. The fish looks intact. Seachem Safe is an inexpensive and easy to use water conditioner that works well for all fish species.
