I bought these 12x42 binoculars for the extra magnification and light weight when hiking and bird watching. I have a Vortex 10x42 that I use for deer hunting and it costs 5 times as much. Both sets are bright and crisp in daylight. The Vortex is a bit brighter in low light in comparison, but both sets are good. Out of the box, the focus ring was very sticky and difficult to turn. After a few minutes of work, it got a lot smoother. The binocular case, strap and harness accessories can be used, but don't expect anything better. The case is durable and feels comfortable in the hand. The lenses and eyecups are a bit flimsy but work well and should hold up under the strain. Overall, I'm impressed with how well they perform for the money. Depending on your needs, you can pay significantly more for high-quality binoculars. They are good for most purposes and at this price point they are of excellent quality.
