My challenge was to find a good quality grinder that wasn't too noisy for other people in the house. After a long search I decided on Capresso. The device is very robust and well made. The grind range approaches the fine grind, so if you're looking for a coarse grind, this may not be the grinder for you. As for the noise, I measured it at 80 dB next to the coffee grinder and reduced it to 70 dB in the next room. It's about as loud as a paper shredder and quieter than most blenders. Another handy tip: if you take out the plastic insert with the chopper, make sure you put it back in the same position as before! The insert will return to a different orientation, but the grinder will not turn on if you replace it incorrectly. I hope this tip saves someone else a few minutes of worry!
