I have my own home cleaning business. I have been buying Oreck XL commercial shelving for 12 years. 2 vacuum cleaners once a year. I ordered on February 1st, it took several days to unpack and assemble. Started using them. A few days later, Machine 1 burned the tape. Okay, maybe the belt is old. Machine 2 burns the ribbon for a few more days. Maybe the same. Machine 2 will burn another tape next week. Honestly, at work you don't have time to sort everything out, so take #1. #1 burns another belt next week. Also, on both machines, the screws holding the handle would eventually loosen no matter how many times I tightened them. Finally wrapped it in duct tape to keep it from moving. Now #2 has been dismantled, brush and fan checked, nothing stuck, belt is new. When you use it, the brush roller will suddenly stop rotating. When it's on it buzzes, and when it's off I can't turn it on manually. As you work, don't keep a torx screwdriver handy to take it apart. So grab #1, get this house done. The next house starts to creak. I give up, I throw this in the car, I finish the house with the owner's vacuum. When I get home I take them both apart and I'm really mad at what I found. The end of the brushroll and the pulley have somehow melted and rubbed together, which explains why the brushroll is not turning at all. #1 which squeaked has pieces of plastic on the end of the roll which looks like the same problem is starting. I've never had so many problems with Oreck in my life. The store near me closed so I bought online for the first time. I won't do it again. I don't know if they sent me unnecessary cars or if the quality has deteriorated. I have machines that I bought 5 years ago, used for a year and kept at home. With a few repair parts they still work well. These will be my work vacuums from now on as I explore other brands. So disappointed in Orek. And of course my return deadline just passed so they go straight in the trash.
