Review on πŸ”Œ BLACK+DECKER BDCMS20B Cordless Baretool for Enhanced SEO by Brian Trujillo

Lightweight, versatile and pleasant to use. Be sure to order the correct sanding sheets. Highly recommended!

I love B&D cordless tools and have several (drill, impact drill, string trimmer) that run on B&D 20V Li-Ion batteries. However, I have several of these batteries and chargers so I was pleased to see that I could buy a B&D grinder without a battery and for that reason cheaper. Even with a battery, the grinder is light. In fact, the battery makes up for the tool a bit, and overall it's very easy and comfortable to use. It comes with a "finger attachment" for handling corners, edges and fine details. It also has a dust bag that can be easily removed for emptying, which should be done every 5-10 minutes of wood sanding. (The bag should not be used for sanding metal, in which case the use of a face mask or respirator is recommended.) The tool also comes with two 120 grit B&D sanding sheets that are easy to attach to get started ( Velcro style) . to the bottom of the mill. I would estimate the battery life to be around 30-40 minutes of continuous use, but probably an hour or more with start/stop methods. It features a conveniently placed "start-stop" switch at the top of the handle. I used it today to sand some old worn paint off of both of our Adirondack chairs so I can change their color. It was quick and easy. The vacuum function worked great and left only a minimal amount of dust on the surface of the chair. I have also been trying to remove rust from an old charcoal/smoker grill that we have and are converting into a planter. It didn't work as well on flat surfaces as it did on chairs (hello seamilk) but better on round handles etc. I like this tool, its cordless convenience and easy manoeuvrability. A CAUTION: In order for the vacuum feature to work properly, you must have 12-hole sanding pads that fit in the sander inlets. I made the mistake of not knowing the toll pad hole configuration and ordered additional pads along with the grinder. They had to be returned and I ordered others that fit exactly. If you don't do this, the vacuum mechanism will NOT work properly. Black & Decker offers replacement pads, but despite their excellent quality, they are very expensive. I recommend the Lot Fancy 12 hole gaskets available from Revain. While they don't last that long, they're pretty cheap at around $13/$50.

Pros
  • The included fingertip can be swapped out to make sanding hard-to-reach areas easier.
Cons
  • Quick Start Guide
