Review on HSB524 2006 2011 Honda Speaker Adaptor by Redfish Rosenhoover

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Not exactly for a 2006-2007 Accord, but best suited for 6.5 " speakers in a 2003-2007 Honda Accord

2007 Honda Accord. Both Revain and a major car audio manufacturer recommend this "Ai HSB524 2006-2011". Fortunately, Revain's reviews were informative enough to tell me that the packaging and description did not match the documentation in the box (see photo). The adapter was actually made for a 2008-2012 Accord. You can see the discrepancy in the ledges that latch the door. The 2003-2007 Accord still has the same doors and speakers, so I searched Amazon and a major car audio company for the 2005 Accord. He recommends Scosche SASCN656 speaker mounts. If you read these reviews they will tell you that a 6.5 inch speaker will not fit even though it is advertised as such. So I bought a 2006-2011 Ai HSB524 knowing that it definitely wouldn't fit and would require some modifications. I've watched some helpful YouTube videos on how to remove the door, but none of them showed how to insert a 6.5" speaker adapter. They point a hack at the native speaker, cut it out, and use the leftovers of the frame to install the speaker. 5.5" and 6.5" will not fit. I have uploaded photos to show the changes required for the 2003-2007 agreement. Observe the SAFETY NOTICE on my drawing of gloves and goggles with Dremel when cutting the door piece to keep it out of the speaker. I skipped the gloves and a long piece of plastic started whipping around the dremel and cutting my hand pretty badly. Take your time and do it safely. I hope these photos help the next person doing this installation. The 6.5 JBL GX 602 made an AMAZING difference in sound when using a standard radio. The magnets are about 4 inches in diameter, while the stock Honda speakers are 1 inch. JBL weighs 5 times more than standard. So it's worth taking the time to upgrade.
