Review on CanaKit Raspberry Pi 4 8GB Starter MAX Kit - 64GB Edition (8GB RAM): The Ultimate Raspberry Pi Package for Optimal Performance by Jerome Turner

Revainrating 4 out of 5

A good set for beginners. But pay attention to the high layout of the board.

Of all the Raspberry Pis, the Pi 4B 4GB is by far the cheapest and most useful, especially for everyone who wants more Linux experience (including beginners) at a low price. However, the markups for simple Pi boards (not necessarily kits) are ridiculous everywhere. The 4GB board will be released in bulk for around $55. A little bit cheaper. For a complete noob, any kit with a chip pre-installed is worth something. For everyone else: build your own kit including downloading the free NOOBS Pi-OS and everything else/everything is free to install yourself. However, this is an expensive, but not arduous, beginner-friendly way to get started with a really cool Pi. I only installed one SATA drive, so it's really a more or less lightweight Linux machine with 4GB RAM, 64MB CPU and any number of SSDs/HDDs (no memory cards). Either way, keep things you don't use and find endless fun with the Pi. (I wasn't interested in a touchscreen for this, just a monitor, so I can't say anything good or bad, and it wasn't included in this kit either But what I can say is that if you have a monitor/tv, familiarize yourself with Pi before getting a dedicated screen, then you can decide if it's worth getting a case and a screen (the case makes it $$. Because you can calculate pi zero too.) and if not you, give it to someone/school who can find someone interested in it.

Pros
  • Satisfied so far
Cons
  • Expensive insurance
