Nice try, but bad execution.

Pros:* The case is very attractive The entry for the /micro SD card has an interesting design, but it doesn't work properly. Card does not fully insert, resulting in accidental shutdown.* The power supply does not have a detachable USB cable.* The heatsinks are not exactly the same size. cable and case? I'm thinking of returning this Revain set. It's a shame.

  • Free for educational purposes

You can't eat just one!

Just received the CanaKit Raspberry Pi 4 MAX Kit. This Pi will join nine others that are permanently installed and running 24/7 in my house. This particular Pi becomes the Apache web server. However, other applications include: an NTP server with a chip-scale cesium atomic clock, a WWVB clock, two GPS clocks, a GPS/NTP real-time monitor, and four for a differential GNSS project. There are probably a dozen more in storage that have played a role in projects like the IPv6 testbed. These were all…

Great kit Computer components

This kit is a great starter kit, it has everything listed. If you're looking to get started with an RPi system and are new to it, this is a good place to start. One note: make sure you have the right peripherals and how you connect them, monitor (HMDI), mouse (USB) and keyboard (USB). Have fun calculating!

Get started quickly with this kit

I know computers, not Raspberry Pi. I've wanted a Pi for years and ended up buying this kit as I needed all the parts I could possibly need with it I could get started quickly. The setup was completed in about 10 minutes. Booting into the operating system was very easy thanks to the preinstalled SD card. About an hour later I had a working Pi. Very impressed! While the processor stays cool, I don't find the airflow optimal due to the fruit-shaped fan opening in the case. Perhaps a simple…

Desktop replacement works!

Used as a desktop replacement. Using two 1920 x 1080 widescreen monitors connected with the two provided HDMI cables. LOVE it so far! Yes, you'll have to learn Linux if you don't already know it, but as a desktop it pretty much has everything I need. I even successfully connected a 1TB SSD (Samsung 850 PRO) to one of the USB3.0 ports. Works perfect! I had to learn a lot about connecting an SSD drive and formatting it properly for Linux and setting the right permissions to write to the drive…

Great little computer, wish the fan was better.

MINOR EDIT: After the initial check below, my main HDMI port is having some issues causing it to lose connection to the monitor. With a bit of manipulation it fits well enough to work, but the slightest movement will again result in a loss of communication. I have not fully investigated whether the HDMI issue is related to the micro connector, the micro connector detaching from the board, or a defect in the cable itself. Also, I'm not sure if kids or a dog could damage the wire causing the…

Pros
  • Many will
Cons
  • boring packaging

Of all the Raspberry Pis, the Pi 4B 4GB is by far the cheapest and most useful, especially for everyone who wants more Linux experience (including beginners) at a low price. However, the markups for simple Pi boards (not necessarily kits) are ridiculous everywhere. The 4GB board will be released in bulk for around $55. A little bit cheaper. For a complete noob, any kit with a chip pre-installed is worth something. For everyone else: build your own kit including downloading the free NOOBS Pi-OS…

Pros
  • Satisfied so far

  • Expensive insurance

A 50/50 chance of death on arrival is normal for computer electronics.

If your Pi arrives broken, don't worry, a 50/50 chance of it being broken on arrival is perfectly normal for PC-related electronics, no matter where you take it to buy. Both Amazon and Canakit will easily send a new device when your DOA arrives. Keep in mind that this version of the Raspberry Pi is still fairly new and some of the software available for earlier models (like Retropie) will not yet work on the Pi 4. In terms of performance, the 4 is a big upgrade over the 3b+ and it will get even

RaspberryPi turned into a PiHole server

I received, unpacked and installed PiHole on this Pi within an hour of receipt. Installing NOOBS on an SD card was a real treat as it simplified the installation of the full RaspberryPi operating system. I think the OS installation took about 15 minutes or so. I really don't have time. It's a good thing. Just connect. As others have said, be careful when installing the Pi's logic board as it has to slide in a certain way or you risk crushing the board. A mounting hole on the base plate…
