Work a few minutes the first time you use it. The water tastes good, not creepy slimy or weird like some razors and other filters make their water. The water is soft, odorless and tastes like chlorine - I feel comfortable and trust what comes out and it tastes good at room temperature straight from the tap. It pours quickly so I don't have to stand around waiting for the filter to do its job. Great buy - no littering from plastic bottles, no walking to the store for refills. . Well worth buying now and I've only had it a few weeks and I'm sure there's a better place for it on the counter and for the faucet installation. All life is an experiment, the more experiments the better.
