I recently decided to use leaves instead of bags and went in search of tea balls. I bought four different styles of Revain. This one is definitely the best. The holes are very thin and the leaves do not escape. It's roomy and holds 3 teaspoons of tea with plenty of room to expand for a 16 ounce cup of tea. One teaspoon per cup plus "one per pot". It also has a lot of those little holes on the top, bottom and sides so the tea brews perfectly for my taste buds - I don't like drinking brown hot water. I want a lot of flavor for my tea. I like that there is a weight on the chain instead of a hook. The hook chain doesn't fit some of my mugs and is too light so it can fall back into the tea requiring the ball to be scooped out with a spoon. I also prefer the screw on the lid - multiple threads, so very secure. Others I've bought either had holes that were too big or not enough holes to extract the tea to my liking.
