Review on CTA Tools 1437 Brake Release by Brian Garrett

Revainrating 3 out of 5

If you need this tool for MK3 Cabrio or Jetta, stay away.

When you buy a tool that's designed specifically for a specific job, you expect it to get the job done. Not this tool. I bought this tool to disassemble the brake booster from a MKIII convertible after a few days of bad luck with screwdrivers. I figured buying a tool to remove it would be better than cutting off the stem and pulling out the pedal. Unfortunately, this tool is too wide to fit behind the brake pedal and hits the steering column. I've tried different ways but to no avail. I ended up just cutting 3/4" from the center and welding them together. If I didn't have a deadline I would simply return the item and make a booster extraction tool. This item may work in other vehicles, but if you have an MK3 Have a cabrio or jetta I would stay away If I had to do it again I would buy tool T40136.

Pros
  • Good value for money
Cons
  • Lots of accessories
