I didn't get the second one (ordered a pair) out of the box until the old one was removed and everything was cleaned and ready to install. I had no accidents (mechanic since 1971) and everything went smoothly. Unfortunately, my ABS light came on before I pulled out of the driveway. So back to the workshop. I knew it had to be something with a speed sensor. Of course, I only had to take it half apart to fix it. The first thing I noticed was a hole in the wiring harness exposing a white wire. Can't tell if it broke in half or not but it should have come loose. I removed the single screw holding the sensor to the hub and part of it just fell off where it broke before. There were no problems with the sensor, and it was immediately apparent that after removal it broke in the hub. Luckily I still had the whole old socket and was able to remove the old sensor from it as a replacement. Therefore, before installing, carefully check the sensors and wiring, otherwise you can just do it again. The cable shield may have been damaged in transit, but the broken sensor in the hub was not.
