When I unpacked this item, the first thing I noticed was that the lid was missing. Upon closer inspection, I realized how small the dirt compartment was. However, it was my attempt to use it that became very frustrating. It took a minute to turn on after plugging it in and flipping the switch to the on position. The suction was very weak and it couldn't pick up anything I tried so it was returned and I refused to replace it with another.
