Review on Maple Top Work Table With Galvanized Steel Base And Adjustable Lower Shelf - John Boos JNS01, 36"X24"X1.5 by John Invert

The good: The wood top itself is very nice the table is very sturdy, even without the shelf (more on that in the bad below). I actually do like the item, but cannot give more than 2 stars to something that arrives with this much damage. I also purchased the Boo's Mystery Oil and applied it right out of the box.The bad: It is puzzling how a company can mail so many of these and have a packaging layout that would allow for the damage I encountered. The shelf was laid over the bottom of the table. the bottom of the table has 4 leg supports protruding out. The shelf now has a ring imprinted on one corner caused by one of these supports. BOTH sides of the shelf were caved in. While both of those were cosmetic damage, the last bit of damage renders the shelf useless. One of the metal supports, that WAS welded to the shelf, was broke off. There was no apparent damage to the outside of the packaging itself, but to cause this kind of damage it would have had to be handled very wrong, but the packaging itself obviously didn't offer much protection to begin with.The table itself does not need the shelf, it is plenty sturdy without it, so I don't intend on going through the hassle of returning a large freight item. I would recommend the item, but wouldn't recommend having it shipped.
