Because diesel engines generate so much pressure internally, they need to be extremely strong, which is why they are made of cast iron. The problem with cast iron is that it rusts very easily and can be severe. This is where the VC-9 comes in. When passed through the cooling system as a flush, it breaks down and removes rust build-up. Therefore, the VC-9 is designed to flush the radiator, which cleans the block, radiator and heater core.
