When we unpacked it, it was incredibly dirty. Like it's out in the mud. I didn't think about it too much because we live in Las Vegas, so I figured maybe it got dusty during shipping or something. When we put it together we found that the top latch was broken and the piece on the side of the fence was scratched as if it had been used. I didn't want to return it because we needed something to keep the baby out of the kitchen. I think cheaper than making one works as the wood is very expensive now, but I'll probably have to add a new latch with the command slats once the bottom latch breaks or wears out.
