Decent postal scales; properly calibrated; Connector loose

I had a letter scale that was almost 20 years old (wow). He has served me well and is still working, but I can see his best days are behind him. So I got it hoping to replace the old scale with a shiny new one. In the box you will find the scale, power cord/power adapter, flexible tape measure and instructions. My first test was to compare the weight measured on my old scale with the weight measured on this scale. A while ago I checked the calibration of an old scale with the weight installed so I know they are accurate. This new scale has passed the verification test for smaller scales. For items weighing less than 10 pounds, both scales reported the same weight to the nearest 0.1 ounce. There was a slight variance on heavier items, for example by an ounce on a 24 pound item. It's honestly close enough considering I'm not using actual weight here. In terms of features, this scale offers a backlit LCD display, unit selection (kg/g/lb/oz), tare function (reset the scale to zero), "pieces" function (allows you to quickly determine how much something is on the scale, based on the weight of one - I find it pretty useless) and on/off. There is also a way to recalibrate the scale if you wish by pressing and holding the "Unit" button. This requires you to have a calibration weight set. But it's nice that it offers such a possibility. All is well and good. Here's the weakest link: the charger has very thin pins that are too small to properly grip a standard outlet. You can turn it on and it will work, but when you press it it just falls out of the socket. You can glue it to the nest to keep it there securely, but that's definitely a downside. in summary. Pros: Proper calibration Large, backlit LCD screen Multiple units (kg/g/lb/oz) Calibration tool Comes with a soft tape measure Cons: The included plug makes poor contact with a standard outlet because the pins are too small. The LCD screen is difficult to read at an angle. Overall I like it, but the fork issue is annoying. For a good price, though, it's worth considering.
