Review on Buy Motorola SURFboard SB5120 DOCSIS 2.0 Cable Modem - Non-Retail Packaging (Brown Box) Online by Aaron Richardson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Seems to work! - Modems

As long as I'm a techie (and by techie I mean I work professionally in IT, not one of those pretentious amateurs that people like to talk about they are "smart"), I'm not techie enough to advertise how he polishes my packets as they go through, or how he convinced the Fed to lower the signal-to-noise ratio on my link. What I can tell you is that my cable ISP provided the SB5100 and it worked fine. The problem was they charged me $5 a month for "rent". So I bought this SB5120. what about my line It still works fine. And I'm not paying them $5 a month to rent $50 gear. So I went from satisfied to satisfied. That's pretty much my rating. I will say that the device itself is in a fairly small form factor (significantly smaller than those old surfboard modems) and unlike my old DSL modem I don't hear 800000000000 Hz when the device is online, which keeps my mind happy . Also, the standby button is really handy because it doesn't actually end your connection. All in all, I don't like anything about this thing. Therefore, my relatively technically clueless rating gives four stars.

Pros
  • Top marks for support and longevity from testers
Cons
  • I won't say anything
