This is a great leash and fits my dog perfectly. He's gotten it in his mouth once or twice, but after realizing he can't chew it, he doesn't worry about it anymore. It's durable and well made and I don't think it will be too heavy even for small dogs. As others have said, the size chart is an issue. I read reviews that said the leash was short so I ordered a large one even though I have a 25lb Cocker Spaniel. And I'm glad I did. This size allows him to both sit and stand in the back seat. But even with the larger one I couldn't tie into the top latch which was my preference while still being able to sit comfortably so I had to use the under seat latch. This somewhat limits the space available for anyone sitting in this seat but the seat can still be used when the dog is tethered and overall I am very happy with my purchase. This solves the problem I was trying to solve which was my dog chewing on the restraint. As with some clothing lines' sizing, I would advise "order". And perhaps not only do you consider the size of your dog, but also the height of the rear seats when using a top latch.
