Although not particularly strong, the odor is present. white in mind, brought gray I have the C4 model, but the instruction was for the C1 model. It could have swung more forcefully because the mechanism is secure and removing it firmly is terrifying. I had to poke the cushions into place because the instructions did not explain how to assemble it properly (plastic carabiners come loosened so that you can thread the straps through the slots on the back). It is firm in comparison to other chairs in the same price range and has a bigger lumbar cushion than is comfortable.
